I took a few months in the fall of 2016 to travel Europe to study type and design. I started off in Ireland, ended up in Hungary and saw some amazing things in between. In every new city I would find the old cemeteries, track down manuscripts in national libraries, find ancient carvings, street art and design and somehow managed to take nearly 10,000 photos.

It was profound to steep myself in design and typography history every day for months across many cultures. I have been a designer for nearly a decade and yet the way I see type and draw letter forms has changed.

I have a few projects in the works that were inspired on the trip, but for now I have been posting what I found on my travels on Instagram @typewander
